A rookie-level Arizona Complex League matchup between the ACL Cubs and ACL Rockies takes place at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in the Salt River Pima–Maricopa Indian Community near Scottsdale. The game features newly signed and developmental players from the Chicago Cubs and Colorado Rockies organizations competing in a short-season, instructional-level contest at the MLB spring-training complex used by the Rockies and Diamondbacks. These contests are part of the teams’ minor-league regular-season schedules and serve to evaluate and develop prospects in game conditions.
